Michael Crandon MP, Member for Coomera
Details

The member contacted us in relation to our current performance audit, Diverting young offenders from crime.

The member brought to our attention a program run in his electorate by ‘Everything Suarve Inc’ (ESuarve). The member told us that an external review had found that the program was successful, and suggested that we obtain and consider a copy of the report as part of our performance audit.

Response

We responded to the member on 21 March 2024.

We advised the member that our audit has considered the effectiveness of various youth justice strategies and programs aimed at serious repeat offenders.

While the ESuarve program may be available to youths that meet this criteria, it was not one of the programs we identified as receiving significant funding for this purpose and therefore will not be considered as part of the audit. We have completed the fieldwork for our Diverting young offenders from crime audit and are now in the reporting phase.

We expect to table our report on the Diverting young offenders from crime audit in mid-2024.
