In Queensland, government owned corporations generate, transmit, and distribute electricity. The supply of affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy is impacted by demand and the mix of energy, including renewable, gas, and coal plants. In 2025, the Queensland Government released the Queensland Energy Roadmap. It outlines a plan for improving existing energy assets and building new ones to meet future demand.

The energy report analyses energy entities’ financial performance, the effectiveness of internal controls, wholesale energy prices, and major events impacting energy entities each year.

Each year our report will build on focus areas from our previous energy reports and emerging issues in the energy sector.
