Primary industries, such as agriculture and fisheries, underpin the state’s economy, strengthen food security, sustain regional communities, and help build resilience.
The Department of Primary Industries developed and released its Primary Industries Prosper 2050 strategy in August 2025. The strategy aims to grow Queensland’s food, fibre, and foliage industries sustainably over the next 25 years. The department will implement the strategy in a staged approach through a series of 5-year action plans.
