In February 2026, the Australian Government signed a national agreement with state and territory governments to invest in additional supports outside of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). These additional supports will be made available to children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism with low to moderate support needs, and their families.

Under the agreement, states and territories will provide general parenting supports, local information, advice and navigation, and targeted allied health supports. The first state services will be available from 1 October 2026. Services will be progressively scaled and established, with full rollout of services by 1 January 2028.
