Assistant Manager

As an Assistant Manager, you manage a team for a number of low to medium risk audits or provide support on high-risk audits. You are a seasoned professional who draws on your expert external audit, consulting, or assurance skills to help us deliver our client services. You have strong communication skills, the ability to think strategically, achieve results, and have a sense of adventure.

Assistant Manager - Performance Audit
We are looking for someone who is committed to contributing to our vision of better public services, and our mission of independent and valued assurance and insights. You will bring an understanding of government and public sector operations, and ideally have experience in assessing government operations, programs and policies.
You will have the ability to think strategically and be a good analytical thinker, with strong client relationship skills. Your responsibilities within the performance audit team will include:
- leading fieldwork through analysis and evaluation of evidence to support the delivery of a diverse range of performance audits over the Queensland Public Sector
- undertaking research (such as analysis over policies, frameworks and better practice approaches), and interviewing a range of stakeholders to understand review topics and identify gaps and improvement opportunities
- preparing presentations for internal and external audiences and contributing to drafting of reports to clients
- contributing to a range of other deliverables and initiatives across the QAO, such as the forward work plan
- building capability and mentoring staff within the performance audit team

Audit Manager (Local Government)

You will work on audits in both South East Queensland and regional and rural Queensland. You are a seasoned professional who can draw on your financial audit experience managing local government audits to help us deliver our audits to our key client base. You have strong communication skills – both written and verbal, the ability to think strategically, achieve results, and have a sense of adventure to explore Queensland.
This role involves travel to local government locations, which may often include overnight stays. We provide advance notice of travel and work with you to support flexible arrangements wherever possible.
